| The Prepositions OD–DO (from–to)
The meaning of these prepositions is:
od | do |
from | to, until (beside/next to) |
They are used to indicate
time duration | Radim od 8:00 do 17:00 svaki dan. I work from 8am to 5pm. Radim od jutra do sutra.* I work day and night. |
geographical distance | Putujem od Splita do Zagreba. I travel from Split to Zagreb. |
The expression Od jutra do sutra is a very common expression among the locals. It indicates that someone [works] all day and all night long (lit. from the morning until the next day).
These two prepositions always go with the Genitive case.

Both prepositions can also be used independently:
od | Ovo je poklon od mene. This is a gift from me. |
do | Gdje si? –Vozim. Idem do ljekarne. Where are you? –I’m driving. I’m going to the pharmacy. |

Complete the sentences by using the most appropriate word from a word bank. Be careful, you need to change the noun form into the Genitive case. If more than one option is possible, choose only one. Word bank: trgovina, knjižnica, baka, centar, grad, djed, stan.
| The Imperative of BITI
The imperative form of the verb biti (to be) is formed in the following way. At this point, take the form as it is.

1st person | / | budimo |
2nd person | budi | budite |
3rd person | neka bude | neka budu |
The meaning of the biti imperative indicates your command to someone to be [something – such as ready, good, etc.]. For example, children hear this command while growing up. They very often hear parents say: Budi dobar! / Budi dobra! It simply means, be good (behave well).
